Project 2 – Six Shots, Six
Actions, and Six Emotions
This
assignment is based on the material covered in Chapter 2 of Framed
Ink.
There are three lists below. Combine one type of shot from the “shot” list, one action from the “action” list, and one emotion from the “emotion” list for a result that looks something like “long shot – flying – nervous”. Illustrate an image that clearly communicates that idea. Go back to the remaining words on the list and repeat this task 5 more times until you have used each type of shot, each action, and each emotion from their respective lists. Only use each type of shot, each action, and each emotion once. That will give you a total of six unique illustrations. You may not skip or repeat any of the words in the list.
Work at a size that is roughly 6 inches wide by 2.5 inches high for each of the illustrations. They should be representational and not the same style as Molly Bang’s Picture This. Line work is acceptable, but gray scale or color work is preferred. These six images need not be the most polished illustrations, but they should be completed drawings. Remember, the point is clear visual communication. You may work digitally or traditionally, but the final presentation will be digital. Traditionally created images should be scanned at no less than 200 dpi.
Split your six images into two groups of three, each group on an 8.5 x 11 document with a plane white background. Stack them vertically and space them evenly. You’ll have two 8.5 x 11 documents that you can combine into one PDF named “IL220B_Lastname_Firstname_Project2.pdf” or you can send them to me individually and name them “IL220B_Lastname_Firstname_Project2a.pdf” and “…2b.pdf”.
